Our Grass Seed Starting Mulch is 100% weed-free. It protects grass seed and holds it in place. Each biodegradable pellet can hold 3X its weight in water, helping to keep seeds moist. Unlike straw, our Grass Seed Starting Mulch contains starter fertilizer for grass seed to encourage strong root development and won’t fly away with the next gust of wind.

Application Tips
1. Prepare your soil by loosening the surface with a garden rake. Spread the grass seed of your choice as directed on the package.

2. Sprinkle GreenView Grass Seed Starting Mulch pellets by hand or use a rotary or drop spreader over the newly seeded soil. Apply enough GreenView Grass Seed Starting Mulch to cover 1/4 of the exposed soil.

3. Thoroughly water the seed bed or patch area. Once watered, GreenView Grass Seed Starting Mulch pellets expand up to 3 times their weight in water. Pellets remain enlarged and reabsorb water for several days.
4. Continue to water the seeded area when pellets get light in color. GreenView Grass Seed Starting Mulch biodegrades naturally as grass grows so no cleanup is required.
